Imagery Archive

RS&GIS Historic Aerial Imagery Archive at Michigan State University

Our archive consists of hundreds of thousands of historic aerial photographs dating from the 1930s to the early 2000s. These data are useful for environmental site assessments, real-estate activities, planning, mitigation, land use change, shoreline erosion, property disputes and more. Our photographs have been roughly referenced which allows them to be brought into a GIS program for additional analysis. Data include county datasets from the USDA, specialty datasets such as large scale leaf-off MDOT photographs, shoreline images, high Altitude NASA color infrared imagery and more.
